RINALDO, HEAD CHEF

-

“My parents are Italian, so dressing well is important in our family. When I was a kid, the people who came to our house would all be wearing pleated pants and jackets with wide lapels and very high vents. They looked smart but never too dressed up. That’s definitely stayed with me. I love that natural, effortless elegance. You put thought into what you wear – a lot of thought, even – but once your clothes are on, you forget about them.”

?? ?? A jacket from Jean-Manuel Moreau, a tailor in Paris’s eighth arrondissement, right next to the restaurant where I work, Stresa. I have all my jackets and suits made by him. This one is in an Italian fabric with a Prince of Wales check. It’s double-breasted, with wide lapels and a welt pocket. I very often wear it like this, in a casual way.
The pants are from BLK DNM, a Scandinavian brand I’ve got a big thing for. I bought my first pair 15 years ago, at Colette. Now I get them in New York and bring them back. This pair’s already 10 years old. I like my pants to be worn and faded. It’s no fun when they’re too new.
This T-shirt is by The Real McCoy’s, a Japanese brand. The cotton is thick and supple, crazy good quality.
This is a silk pocket handkerchief by Charvet. It’s funny, but I always feel a bit more confident when I’m wearing it.
