“When I was a teenager, I got heavily into Native American culture. I grew my hair long and wore a headband, with lots of jewelry. I was trying to look like a Cheyenne or a Navajo. I think that’s when I first got a taste for style. I became very obsessive as time went on. I read a lot about it, especially in Jean Baudrillard’s books. At the end of my studies, I even wrote a long dissertation called “Patina: Reviving Consumer Pleasure with Imperfections” (La Patine: un Réenchantement de la Consommation par la Souillure in French). I tried to analyze the importance of worn-down jeans. Clothes have meaning for me.”

?? ?? A New Era x Aimé Leon Dore Yankees cap in brushed nylon. It reminds me of my shopping trips to Châtelet in Paris when I was a teenager. At The Movement Shop, you could buy the kind of gear rappers were wearing in their videos. They even sold Nike Air Force Ones customized with fake Louis Vuitton patterns. Superb.
I wear suits because I enjoy it, not because I have to for work, so I like to have a bit of fun with them. This one’s from Sid Mashburn: velvet, unlined, with soft shoulders. I love it.
White gold sleepers. I got my left ear pierced in Year 7, when I was 12. I wore a zirconium fake diamond stud. I also had a Nike swoosh for a while. I recently had my right ear pierced because I wanted to go all the way and have earrings in both ears.
I used to follow the Alden Shoes hashtag on Instagram. A Japanese guy, an Alden fan, would always post great looks. Thanks to him, I found out about Harley of Scotland, a tiny family-run brand. They made me do a bank transfer to buy this sweater. The cool part was that I got to choose how I wanted the wool brushed.
Really thick winter socks from Thunders Love. I like my feet to be very warm in winter – I guess everyone does.
The first time I saw a pair of Clarks Wallabees was when the rapper Snoop Dogg wore them in the French version of the rap magazine The Source. His were made of fake snakeskin. I asked my mother if I could have the same ones. She said no. This pair is a collaboration with New Yorker Aimé Leon Dore. I love the tufted wool uppers made of Casentino wool.
