“When I was a teenager, I got heavily into Native American culture. I grew my hair long and wore a headband, with lots of jewelry. I was trying to look like a Cheyenne or a Navajo. I think that’s when I first got a taste for style. I became very obsessive as time went on. I read a lot about it, especially in Jean Baudrillard’s books. At the end of my studies, I even wrote a long dissertation called “Patina: Reviving Consumer Pleasure with Imperfections” (La Patine: un Réenchantement de la Consommation par la Souillure in French). I tried to analyze the importance of worn-down jeans. Clothes have meaning for me.”
