IGOR, SUIT SALESMAN
I was always drawn to ’70s styles, with those wide collars and high-waisted pants. I used to watch Belmondo films back-toback because I loved the fashion. But for a long time, I didn’t have the courage to wear that look myself. It wasn’t until I moved to Paris from Rennes, in my early 30s, that I became more adventurous.
I got into secondhand clothes and learned about things like materials and manufacturing. I never look at the weather forecast. I just dress according to my mood.
I found this a few days ago in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, which is where I get almost all my pants. It's quite subdued – not too masculine, not too punky, not too loud.
I bought this tank top at Amar, a thrift store in the 17th arrondissement. I like the old-fashioned dorkiness of the mesh.
It’s an old Ralph Lauren that I bought brand new at a clearance sale a few weeks ago. I like the color and the cut; also the fact that it’s oversized and quite thick.
A glossy white belt from Husbands, the store where I work. I’ve had it for two years. It makes a change from black or brown.
A leather jacket I picked up five years ago at the thrift store Guerrisol, I think I paid €30 for it. I like the bulk of it, the color, the look and feel of the leather. It reminded me of the TV series Le Voyageur
[The Hitchhiker], about this guy with no ties who roams from town to town and always ends up having adventures. He had a jacket like this.
They’re also from Amar. I like their bagginess and the skater vibe. I try to change my look every day, but I do have this unhealthy habit of wearing a piece obsessively until I don't like it anymore. Right now, it’s these jeans.
MSGMs I bought new on Vinted. I’ll tell you what happened. They weren’t beige to begin with but completely black. I tried to alter the vamp myself by making perforations in it, first with a hammer and wedge, then with a drill. It was an absolute disaster. [Laughs] A good cobbler managed to sort them out for me, and now they’re a one-of-a-kind design.
