Rooftop restaurants with a city view are not always as highlypraised as ones with a harbour view, unless the said establishment is like Popinjays, perched on top of The Murray hotel. The spacious bar-and-restaurant welcomes guests with a 270-degree city view, the panorama wrapped by an open terrace and a glass-lined dining room. Guests arriving via the private elevator will be greeted at the bar, where an inspiring collection of creative cocktails are prepared throughout each evening. On the other side of the bar lies the main dining space, square and beautifully lit with fabulous works of contemporary art. Popinjays boasts a contemporary European menu, where guests can sample the continent’s classics with modern twists such as truffles in a traditional vichyssoise, or sweet Philibon melon weaved into a traditional Caprese salad of tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. On weekends, a sharing menu is served with a set selection of nibbles and cocktails, while the notable selection of wines and cocktails make this a hot establishment for drinks, from a pre-prandial aperitif to a nightcap, accompanied by vibrant city lights.
