www.diningconcepts.com While Australian designer Ashley Sutton’s restaurant designs often toe the line between opulent and camp, Dragonfly manages to tastefully transcend its compact space in the landmark Tai Kwun with an evocative ceiling display of stained glass lamps that will have visitors ogling upwards, as well as a wealth of dragonfly-shaped details in every nook and cranny. The cocktails are equally social media-friendly and generally well-balanced, with an internationally inspired menu that features highlights such as a bubble milk tea spiked with cognac, and a reinterpreted Bloody Mary topped with an oyster. The light bites are designed for sharing although they failed to astound: the foie gras terrine was too hard to spread on the bread, and the prawn tempura, while juicy inside, was masked by a batter that was much too thick. Despite being packed the night we visited, we were seated quickly and the service remained efficient throughout.
