A word from Tatler Asia’s Editorial Director of Dining

Decades from now, I am sure that 2020 will be seen as a pivotal moment in the history of the world. It was a year of disruption and change brought on by Covid-19, which has impacted every facet of human existence—not least, the way we interact with each other and how we dine. The restaurant world, in particular, has been irreversibly changed. The challenges that the industry has faced have been phenomenal, but yet we will always choose to remain on the side of optimism.

This year, we have seen the resilience of an industry that has proven time and time again to be absolutely essential to our lives. Without the restaurant or the bar, denied of places to socialise and to share, we are robbed of a kind of experience that brings limitless joy; it’s how we know that supporting the restaurants and bars we love is crucial to our everyday existence. That is why, in 2020, we have put all of our energies behind new initiatives and building support networks to aid an industry in dire straits. We believe that now is the time to foster unity and advocate for the survival and recovery of an industry we all know and love.

This year, Tatler Dining

Best Restaurants features consolidated information and stories about our community’s most beloved restaurants, bars and the people behind them, to act as a resource for diners and to encourage them to support the places we believe deserve to stay open. We hope that you are warmly reminded of what a wonderful dining scene we have and that this year’s edition inspires you to advocate for its survival.
