TATLER SAYS
Mingoo Kang's first restaurant in Hong Kong is not a carbon copy of his flagship restaurant, Mingles in Seoul. With its own point of view and creative angle, the cuisine here plays on South Korean culinary traditions, resulting in entirely thrilling dishes that are at once familiar yet inventive. Small but effective, it's a place that feels effortless in the way that they bring Korean culture to the forefront, whether it's through the interior design, the cutlery or the microfocus on building blocks of the cuisine like the country's iconic jang (sauces).
SIGNATURE DISHES
• Samgye risotto (ginseng chicken risotto)
• Yukhoe (beef tartare with Jerusalem artichokes)
• Bugak (seasonal Korean chips)
TATLER TIPS
Go beyond soju— check out the regional map of Korea for an exploration of traditional alcohols, such as solsongju
(rice pine wine) from Gyeongsang Namdo in the south.
