TATLER SAYS

Central is a fine-dining mecca, but there are surprisingly few upscale Chinese restaurants— China Tang is one of those few, and a popular (not to mention beautifully ornate, as it was designed by the late Sir David Tang) choice for dainty dim sum lunches. Dinner is less Cantonesecentric, with a wideranging menu that spans favourites like Peking duck, stir-fried lamb with scallions, Sichuan-style marinated ox tripe and kung pao chicken. À la carte is more exciting than the standard set menu, and allows diners to experience the range of cuisines chef Menex Cheung has mastered from his training in the mainland.

SIGNATURE DISHES

• House-made gooseberry sauce with crispy marbled beef ribs

• Mala chicken

• The Bomb

TATLER TIP

Custom set menus can often be made for larger groups ahead of time to better accommodate special requests and dietary preferences.
