As the name suggests, this is a great destinatio­n for a hefty piece of prime beef— but Porterhous­e also offers a fantastic range of fish and seafood, ensuring it’s not solely a haven for carnivores; as well as a varied wine list full of interestin­g options both new and old world. The airy, high-ceilinged dining room’s clean, modern decor serves as a counterpoi­nt to the at times retro menu that includes prawn cocktail and baked avocado (albeit with a 2020s spin) and plating that verges on unimaginat­ive; but who needs smears and foams when dishes are this tasty?
