TATLER SAYS

High ceilings, distressed posters and antique wooden furnishing­s embellish the space where Samsen stands. The Thai eatery remains a perennial fan favourite and queues only get longer during mealtimes. Seating can be tight with little elbow room, but food and service are on point. The dinner menu includes à la carte dishes such as crab omelette and turmeric fried squid, both well-executed and served with a hot and tangy sauce on the side. Wagyu beef boat noodles are a must, while the stir-fried chicken flat noodles come a close second. Thai milk tea and lime soda are popular among guests but an occasional pineapple ginger frappe is an excellent alternativ­e with an option to spike with a boozy shot.
