TANGO

-

Tango is a real meat lovers’ paradise, with a vast selection of steaks, traditional South American sausages, achuras (offal) and other grilled meats to tempt the taste buds of any hungry carnivore. Whilst we sample a range of the restaurant’s Argentinian-inspired menu, including some refreshingly light octopus tostadas and wellseasoned empanadas, it is fittingly the steak that is the star of the show. Our skirt steak arrives on a sizzling plate and is mouthwateringly juicy and tender, a blushing pink in the middle, and bursting with a rich beef flavour; its accompanying six sauces all pair with it excellently, although our favourites are the spicy tomato and punchy chimichurri. The South American influence extends to the wine menu, with an impressive range of over 30 Malbecs; the majority of the bottles are well under the HK$1,000 mark. Tango’s staff are polite and efficient, even when the restaurant is full; on the night we visit, it is packed, emphasising the fact that its tables are rather too close together—otherwise, the décor of exposed brick walls and warm brown hues is welcoming enough, albeit pretty unremarkable. Overall, Tango’s fantastic grilled meats make this a great, reasonably priced choice for when those steak cravings hit.
