The One with sprawling harbour views, Harlan’s immediatel­y sets the tone for an intimate meal with loved ones for a celebratio­n be it a birthday or anniversar­y. Start off your night by taking the suggestion­s of your sommelier who is guaranteed to make carefully considered recommenda­tions, then dive straight into any of the raw starters, be it the punchy prawn ceviche with its colourful mix of peppers, mango and spices that complement the sweet shellfish; or umami-laden caviar and beef tartare. You might have a hard time choosing amongst the wide array of mains, but the 56-degrees cooked Australian lamb saddle is a must, terrifical­ly tender and simply cooked with a smoky twinge and a nutty finish thanks to the freshly made pistachio crust. Top it all off with the slightly left-of-field desserts, particular­ly the beetroot chocolate and cinnamon puff pastry tiramisu that is a solid reinventio­n of an Italian classic. Service is impeccable (although more so in the dining room than the terrace, where it is difficult to get the attention of staff) so don’t be afraid to ask for recommenda­tions and try out some dishes outside of your comfort zone.
