Lobster Bar & Grill buzzes with liveliness. On a weeknight all tables are full, the atmosphere alight with chatter and pleasant live jazz music. Granted, the décor of the place could do with some updating: the dark blue patterned wallpaper, leather armchairs and slightly 80s’ lounge-style décor are a bit too old-school charm for our liking—but they also add a certain distinctive character to the restaurant. The menu offers few surprises, but the execution is so good that it doesn’t really matter. Seafood is, of course, the main focus. A lobster bisque is light and velvety, packing plenty of punch. Crab cakes are rendered perfectly, chock-full with crabmeat in a crispybut-not-oily coating. A plate of sea bass, scallop and prawn (all sustainably sourced) with meuniere sauce is an example of what great seafood cooking should be, as is the grilled baby lobster we end the meal with. Service mirrors the quality of the feast: flawless, very pleasant and oh so welcoming.
