There’s no going wrong with the fine Vietnamese offerings at this restaurant overlooking the busy ice skating rink in Festival Walk. The teal and bronze, colonialinspired motif easily situates diners in the central Vietnamese city of Hue, home to the cuisine on the menu, which features a good assortment of items from rice paper roll appetisers and chargrilled meats, to noodles— pho and bun feature extensively— and fried rice, meat and seafood mains, vegetables, and desserts. The lotus root shredded chicken salad is a good starter, its light and tangy flavours a refreshing and inviting precursor to the mains. While selections are vast, among them we’d recommend the yellow curry beef brisket drenched in a generous pool of warm, moreish curry. There’s nothing wrong with the French bread it’s served with, but it’s worth opting for an additional bowl of rice to pair with the curry. An Nam’s signature combo rice noodle soup is failproof, with the beef items—thinly sliced, brisket, ball, and tendon—on point in the homely broth. For the elegant setting and fine Vietnamese cuisine punctuated by the kind of dishes perfect for a rainy day.
