IGNITION Incoming: 2020 Triumph Street Triple R THE 2020 TRIUMPH STREET TRIPLE RS WAS RECENTLY launched in India and now the British brand is gearing up to launch the “R” version of the bike soon. In fact, Triumph have started accepting bookings for the new variant. This would allow them to offer the Triple to a wider audience as the top-spec RS variant they currently sell is priced at a hefty Rs 11.13 lakh (ex-showroom). The Street Triple R is almost identical to the “RS”, including the new LED headlights and redesigned body panels. The R is distinguishable by its red subframe and R badging and some fiery red decals. The 765-cc, liquid-cooled, in-line three-cylinder engine from the “RS” will continue to power the “R” but the latter has been detuned to deliver 116 hp at 12,000 rpm and 77 Nm at 9,400 rpm, which means a drop of five hp and two Nm respectively. The “R” also gets the Triumph Shift Assist (up and down quickshifter) seen on the RS. Compared to the top-end model, the “R” gets slightly lower-spec suspension, tyres, and braking components. It also misses out on the five-inch TFT screen, making do with an LCD display instead, and gets just three riding modes instead of five. We expect the “R” to be priced at around Rs 9.60 lakh when it comes to India. Ather Energy to Offer Exchange Schemes New Cruiser from Suzuki?
