India extends footprint of mango exports to newer countries

-

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in collaboration with Indian embassy and the Abu Dhabi-based importer LuLu group, recently organised a mango promotion programme in Dubai for varieties from northern India. Juicy varieties including Chausa and Langra, sourced in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh mandi board, were displayed in the United Arab Emirates. APEDA has been initiating measures to boost mango exports from the nontraditional regions and states.

The authority has also been conducting virtual buyer-seller meets and festivals to promote mango exports. APEDA had also recently organised a mango promotion programme at Doha, Qatar where nine varieties of mangoes including Geographical Identification (GI) certified ones from West Bengal & Uttar Pradesh were displayed at the stores of importer Family Food Centre. Recently, a consignment of GIcertified Fazil mango variety sourced from Malda district of West Bengal was exported to Bahrain.
