A beefy affair

Simply Gourmet Meat Products, a distributor for Canadian beef and veal, recently held a private dinner for a coterie of chefs and made an impression with its premium quality meats.

It was a night that brought together 20 top chefs and F&B players at Capella Hotel Singapore’s Chef’s Table on 9 December to sip fine wine (from Wine Clique) and savour premium Alberta beef brought in by Simply Gourmet Meat Products. The event was co-organised by The High Commission of Canada and The Government of Alberta.

Noteworthy guests High Commissioner of Canada Lynn Mcdonald; Christopher Millar, culinary director of 1-Group; and Eric Neo, executive chef of Intercontinental Singapore mingled with Simply Gourmet Meat Products founder Wahid Kandil, who had flown in from Dubai for this dinner. With a long tradition of production, Alberta‘s cattle are reared on pristine pastures and under a closely monitored production process, which results in consistent, richly marbled and juicy meat. The eight-course wine-pairing dinner, specially curated by chef Andrea Sacchi and Capella Singapore’s executive chef

David Senia, included a juicy sautéed Beef Striploin Tataki served with blue cheese ice cream and sweet peas. The star of the night was the Chinese Short Ribs Confit, which was cooked with Chinese herbs like dang gui (female ginseng) to yield an intensely flavoured and succulent meat.

Kandil shared that it was Simply Gourmet Meat Products' first foray into the Singapore market and that the event presented an ideal platform to showcase the goodness of Canadian beef.
