REPUTATION MATTERS…
A group of Marlborough producers have devised a way to differentiate their wines from bulk brands. Chaired by Ivan Sutherland of Dog Point Vineyard and vice-chaired by Dr John Forrest of Forrest Wines, the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) body has created a certification process for Marlborough sauvignon blanc. It requires 100% of the grapes be sourced from Marlborough vineyards that are members of a recognised, sustainable viticulture programme and that wines are bottled in New Zealand.
AMW has been trademarked in most of our key wine markets and it’s hoped consumers will soon realise the
AMW label sets quality Marlborough wines apart from other commodity-driven dross.
