Since 1988, Thanying has prided itself on serving authentic Royal Thai cuisine. Yam mamuang as a starter features spicy, sweet, green mango salad with chicken, prawn, aromatic roasted coconut, chilli and lime sauce. When eaten together with poo ja (deep-fried crab meat mixed with minced chicken, topped with salted egg yolk and served in a crab shell), your appetite is bound to be awakened. The steamed sea bass is presented whole with the central bone removed, in a zesty lime and chilli sauce—it’s highly recommended. The à la carte dessert menu is complemented by a colourful dessert buffet that highlights a selection of fresh tropical fruit and dainty assorted Thai cakes. Old and new world wines are available, including the signature house wine from Chilean label Casas Patronales Chúcaro. The spacious and elegant restaurant exudes a peaceful atmosphere befitting the refined Thai culture, with well-spoken staff who are knowledgeable, dignified and approachable.
