Your feature on Hartbeespoort in Platteland #13 (Summer 2016/17) took me back 32 years to the time when my parents lived on a plot above the rail crossing on the Broederstroom side of the mountains overlooking the dam. My uncle, who owned the plot, worked for Pelindaba. The butchery in Broederstroom had the best boerewors, and I remember the tomatoes on the farm on the river’s edge. Your article brought back many memories, as all parties are deceased. (But we still visit Tan’ Malie se Winkel when in the area.)
