LOSE IT!

ED’S LETTER

-

There are so many interesting things happening in both Lose It! and the LCHF community that it’s difficult to know where to start, so I’ll just plunge right in. First off, although we intended publishing this magazine quarterly, you’ve been so insistent that we’ve decided to increase that to six issues a year. So: good news! You won’t have to wait three months for your next issue of Lose It! – it will be in shops on January 26. Just in time to save you from any holiday excesses and inspire you to keep going in 2015… Keep an eye out for it.

Secondly, we’re delighted that Dr Gerhard Schoonbee has agreed to join our expert editorial advisory team as medical consultant. He’s a GP of nearly 40 years standing and both personal experience of l living the LCHF life and a deep s scientific and medical curiosity a about the subject. He is thoroughly i informed and up to date on all the l latest studies in the field. Plus, he has o one of the most inspiring folders I’ve e ever seen – literally bulging with the s success stories of patients who’ve c chosen to live LCHF under his g guidance, and who’ve turned their l lives around as a result. We’re very proud to have him on our team (see his story on page 6).

Thirdly, we’re excited to tell you we’re starting a monthly Banting Bazaar, where you can stock up on everything you need in one place (with loads of parking!). We’ve tried so many excellent banting products that are not yet stocked by retailers – this is your chance to sample them for yourselves and choose the ones you like the most, all under one roof. Our first Banting Bazaar is on Saturday 6 December from 9am– 2pm, at 14 Hope Street, Gardens, Cape Town. We look forward to seeing you there!

Also in January and, again, in response to your requests, we’re launching a Lose It! website, where you can sign up for a specially tailored 6-week meal plan, receive weekly newsletters, and talk to and consult with others in this vibrant banting community – including our experts, who’ll be available for live forums and chats. (See page 26.)

And finally (we’ll remind you again closer to the time), Karen Thomson (see page 40) has organised a groundbreaking International LCHF Summit in Cape Town for February next year. Make your travel plans now – you really won’t want to miss it: she’s managed to get the leading lights in LCHF from all over the world in one place for three days – it’s going to be incredible.

There’s now just enough space left for me to wish you all a terrific festive season and a wonderful break. Just look at Justine’s wonderfully celebratory banting meals on page 60, and you’ll see you’re in for an indulgent, delicious – and totally banting-friendly – holiday. Have fun!
