Boost for young Eden Biathlon athletes

-

As part of its development programme, Eden Biathlon presented a development clinic at Knysna Primary School in which 33 athletes were put through their paces.

They were instructed by two of the best coaches in South Africa, Marius Schlechter (running) and Sybeth Hughes (swimming).

This clinic was hosted in partnership with the Department of Culture and Sport and Knysna Municipality and organised by Dave van der Walt, the operational manager of Eden Biathlon. Abigail McKay was the local coordinator.

Many parents also attended and were highly impressed with what they saw and were eager for their children to take part in biathlon.

Both the coaches, Schlechter and Hughes, were pleasantly surprised by the talent.

The two coaches also identified two athletes - one in swimming and one in running - who showed great promise: Logan Plaaitjies (swimming) and Tiago Kamfer (running) each received a prize from Eden Biathlon.

Any person, from seven to 70 years, is welcome to participate in this growing sport.

For more information, Dave van der Walt (davesus@telkomsa.net) can be contacted. The second part of the 2018/19 season will continue in January 2019.
