Run/walk for Toll House

-

A run/walk will be held on Saturday 1 December to raise funds for the restoration of the historical Toll House in the Montagu Pass that was severely damaged during the recent fires. To enter for the 10km Ou Tolhuis Training Run, participants can pay a voluntary donation of R10 per kilometre or R100. It will start at the open field opposite Heather Park Spar between CJ Langenhoven, Morning Glory and Plantation roads.

Many lucky draw prizes and vouchers will be up for grabs for participants who “pay the toll”, including meal vouchers, wine, overnight accommodation, sports gear, crockery, jewellery vouchers and more.

Walkers will start at 06:00 and runners at 06:30.

Special wine for Toll House

Herold Wines launched a special wine with a logo of the Toll House at a fund raising function in the George Museum on Friday. Carrie and Trudie Canninga provided music for the evening and Daleen Engelbrecht showed a video she created with historical material, telling the story of the Toll House. The evening was also attended by George Speaker Gerhard Pretorius and Cllr Lisa Stroebel.

Gerda Stols, one of the big drivers behind the Toll House restoration project, said she is upbeat about the future of the building and thankful for all the interest, enthusiasm and efforts from the community to save it.
