Defeats for SWD cricket team against North West

The SWD senior cricket team suffered defeats in both the three- and one day formats in their Cricket South Africa provincial competitio­n matches against North West over the weekend.

In the three day match the visitors from Potchefstr­oom were bowled out for 196 where after SWD were dismissed for only 96. With a first innings lead of 105 North West declared their second innings at 146/9 setting SWD a target of 252 for victory.

SWD were dismissed for 170 as North West recorded an 81 runs victory. Tsepo Ndwandwa (4/51 and 5/50) was SWD’s outstandin­g player as he bagged nine wickets in the match.

In the limited over match North West were restricted to only 153 and with the home team in a commanding position at 91/2 a victory was a formality.

SWD however collapsed to 130 all out as North West took the honours with a 23 run victory.

SWD’s next round of matches will be this upcoming weekend when they take on Border at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
