Midland bids nurse farewell
Members of the GraaffReinet community were deeply saddened by the death of Midland nurse Katrina Matha (61) on 2 September. Matha was a frontline worker against the Covid-19 pandemic and worked at the hospital for 10 years.
Midland Hospital did not wish to elaborate on Matha’s cause of death but said that she will be dearly missed by her Midland family and the extended community, who were extremely fond of her.
"She will fondly be remembered for her willingness to help others," said her colleagues, who described her as a loving and passionate person who was full of life. "Our sincerest condolences to her family," the colleagues added, "may her soul rest in peace." Matha is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. A private memorial was held in her honour on Wednesday.
