Kicks off Tourism month in the Eastern Cape
September is national tourism month and ST20 is set to kick off the Eastern Cape's drive to get tourists visiting again in 2020
The Karoo Wine Clubs annual Stoep Tasting Wine Weekend in Graaff Reinet has attracted thousands of tourists and wine lovers to the Camdeboo region every year and 2020 is no different.
Despite 2020 being a year to forget and the original May weekend having to be postponed due to national lockdown regulations, the Karoo Wine Club has managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat and organise the September weekend in record time. Much to the relief of the local tourist sector, economy and wine makers and lovers from across the country.
Organisers have been driven by the motivation to assist local Camdeboo business and SA wine producers get back on their feet.
#saveSAwine and #visitthekaroo are this year’s themes.
With close to 40 of SA's top producers showcasing their wines from some of the most beautiful stoeps of Graaff Reinet, tasters can wander in the fresh Karoo air and taste and order their favourite tipples.
The stoeps have been spaced further apart than normal, ticket numbers have been reduced and a number of other measures have been put in place in order to stay within compliance of the Lock down level 2 regulations.
With the Curfew of 22:00 to be observed, Stoep Tasters are encouraged to stock up on lovely local delicacies during the day and return to their places of accommodation after curfew to relax and enjoy a quiet Karoo braai under the stars or similar.
Clear blue skies and Karoo sunshine should round off a great weekend for all and ensure all our lovely visitors have a great weekend. Tickets can be collected from the Graaff Reinet Tourism office.
