Two sentenced for goat slaughter

Two men were found guilty on 3 September of stealing and slaughteri­ng six angora goats in the Aberdeen district.

According to Capt Bradley Rawlinson, spokespers­on of the Graaff-Reinet SAPS, Alfred Diempies Jiggels and Jacobus Cowee Kivido, both 35, were sentenced to one-year imprisonme­nt.

They were accused of stealing the goats from a farm in the Aberdeen district 15

August.

They later slaughtere­d the goats.

"The hard work and dedication by GraaffRein­et Stock Theft Unit detective, Warrant Officers Johan Gerber and Laurence Jantjies were rewarded by this conviction," said Rawlinson.

The Stock Theft Unit Commander, Captain Francois Oosthuizen, commended the members for their thorough investigat­ion
