Cookhouse suspect caught with drugs worth over R14 000

A 35-year-old suspect was arrested on 10 September for possession of drugs worth over R14 000 in Cookhouse.

According to Captain Bradley Rawlinson, spokespers­on for the policing area, members of Cookhouse Visible Policing were patrolling in Newtown location shortly before midnight, when officials searched the suspect.

Police found 246 whole Mandrax tablets and three broken tablets. “The street value of the drugs is estimated to be R14 640,” said Rawlinson. An undisclose­d amount of cash was also confiscate­d.

“Lieutenant Colonel PD Ferreira commends the members on the confiscati­on of drugs and the arrest of the suspect,” Rawlinson added. Ferreira also stated that patrols are effective in the fight against crime and drugs.
