Raffle for a good CAWSE

- CHRISZANNE J VAN VUUREN

GRAAFF-REINET - There are only a few days left to buy your tickets for the Camdeboo Animal Welfare Society (CAWSE) Crochet Blanket Raffle.

The raffle was launched in July and within a few weeks, CAWSE received enough wool donations for a queen-size blanket that is even bigger than the double bed blanket initially planned.

“Lee Erasmus is amazing,” says Nicola Woods.

“She managed to crochet the blanket in record time despite having so many other commitments.” Both Erasmus and Woods are members of the CAWSE team.

The stunning blanket, crocheted with love from the Karoo, was ready by 15 August and the draw will take place on 1 September.

Tickets are available at R20 each at THREE 16 (Freedom Church Café, 60 Caledon Street), Camdeboo Veterinary Clinic (102 Somerset Street), Dr Larson (62 Stockenstroom Street), Loop Wool Boutique (Karoo Trade Centre, 20 Church Street), and from the CAWSE members.

The raffle is open to anyone throughout the country as CAWSE can courier the blanket to the winner. Should you be unable to visit any of the ticket outlets, Woods can be contacted at 083 415 6514 for assistance with ticket purchases. Tickets are available until 31 August.

The funds raised with the raffle will be used to purchase blankets for pets in need. CAWSE has been handing out blankets to pets in need every Wednesday during their outreaches to dip, deworm and identify animals that need to be sterilised.

“We have been able to hand out 100 blankets so far. This includes the 67 blankets we handed out on Mandela Day,” says Woods.

"CAWSE is immensely grateful for the donations, but we still have a long way to go. There are so many more dogs that need our help we would like to encourage everybody to support the Crochet Blanket Raffle. It is for a good CAWSE."
