Prizes and Surprizes! Garden Route Mall’s lucky winners

-

Following the weekly wins by Garden Route Mall shoppers entering the

Saturday Prize or Surprize! Competition, the mall has announced the winners of the ultimate prizes.

Prizes worth over R30 000 were up for grabs in the game, which took place every Saturday afternoon for 10 weeks at the mall's Customer Service Desk.

Mandisa Maloyi's entry form was the first valid one drawn in the lucky draw, so she has won R5 000 in shopping vouchers. This lucky teacher at Mzoxolo Primary School in Lawaaikamp nominated her school as a beneficiary on the entry form. Because the winner nominated Mzoxolo Primary, this school has won R5 000. Maloyi named her granddaughter, Sophumelela Maloyi, as the one she would like to win the R1 000 stationery voucher.

Maloyi is excited about her plans for the R5 000 in vouchers. She needs a home printer for her work and is also looking forward to revamping her kitchen. Her planned upgrade includes a pressure cooker that she has wanted for some time.

Sophumelela Maloyi, who is in Grade 9 at Eden Technical High School, is planning to buy a dictionary and school stationery with her R1 000 in vouchers from Garden Route Mall.

The principal of the winning school, Raymond Eagan, said they will put the R5 000 prize towards buying easel boards for classrooms, a laminating machine and blinds for the staff room.

Garden Route Mall's marketing manager, Tumi Masango, said the Saturday Prize or Surprize! Competition formed part of the mall's social outreach programme. The initiative to reward a local school with much-needed funds is "one of the ways that Garden Route Mall gives back to the communities from which it draws its workforce and many of its customers". She thanked everyone who took part in the weekly Saturday events at the mall and congratulated the winners of both the big and smaller, weekly prizes.
