Blue Flag status has recently been conferred on Witsand, which now becomes the fourth beach in the Hessequa municipal area with Blue Flag status. Head of Parks, André Hansen, opened the ceremony and explained the significance of the Blue Flag status of beaches. This means increased responsibility on the town and lifesavers to keep the beach and facilities clean and safe throughout the holiday season. Together with the prospect of fresh water throughout the season, due to the desalination project been completed and becoming operative, Witsand is bound to become the choice destination for holidaymakers and tourists from now on.
