COMING IN HOT
A new crop of chilli products and sauces has our attention. Here’s what we’re eating this month
Chilli crisp
Food director Abigail Donnelly has been stocking up on this crunchy, spicy, garlicky condiment for ages, but this year she put out a trend alert, and true to form, it is now popping up everywhere. Similar to a chilli oil, it features characteristic crispy pieces of chilli and garlic. Locally, look out for it in dishes at Dahlia on Regent in Sea Point, and all over the internet on everything from noodles and chicken to soft-serve ice cream. (It’s the internet, don't try all of it at home.)
Try it on fried rice, eggs, in marinades and dips. Head to taste.co.za for our recipe.
