Lamb + Pinotage
The buttermilk-marinated lamb on page 98 deserves a rich, full-bodied wine with intense dark fruit flavours, and the Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve (R194.99) is my choice. Expect notes of plum, blackcurrant and sage, with dark chocolate and nutmeg on the palate with a smooth, lingering finish. Lamb has intense gamey flavours mellowed by rosemary, and the wine is perfectly harmonious with the dish, also complementing the herbaceous flavours.
