For bushveld brews and sourdough pizza
Like many locals, Mark and Dominique Maritz (below right) swapped the rat race of Joburg for family life in the bush, gifting Hoedspruit with a brewery. Plans are in place for on-site beer-making, but there are plenty of local pours on tap in the meantime. The couple has a “gentleman’s agreement” with a baker in town for their sole-use sourdough recipe.
It’s made fresh each day before being piled with toppings (the tandoori pizza with caramelised onion, peppers and avo is a recipe pulled from this very mag) and lovingly baked in the wood-fired oven. Bosveld Centre on the
