PORSCHE HAS UNVEILED a facelifted version of the Macan SUV. It will go on sale in the UK later this year, although the launch line-up won’t feature any diesel engines.

Delays in the new WLTP emissions testing process mean that Porsche has yet to confirm engines for the refreshed BMW X4 rival, although only petrol units are thought to feature initially.

Autocar understands that the entry-level 2.0-litre turbo unit has been tweaked to produce 256bhp, while the 3.6-litre V6 found in the current S, GTS and Turbo models has been replaced by a choice of two smaller-capacity V6 engines developed with Audi.

The range-topping engine is understood be a 2.9-litre V6, also used in the Audi RS4 and expected to produce around 454bhp in the Macan Turbo S.

Autocar sampled 2.9 and 3.0-litre engines during a Macan prototype test drive recently (6 June).

The SUV has had a mild exterior redesign, including a new front bumper, fresh LED projector headlights and a new, full-width LED light strip at the rear similar to that featured on the 911. A refreshed range of 20in and 21in alloy wheels will also be offered.

Inside, the revised dashboard features Porsche’s latest infotainment system, including an enlarged 11.0in touchscreen. The car comes with connectivity support for real-time swarm-based traffic data, while driver assistance systems – including a low-speed semi-autonomous driving function – have been brought in from Porsche’s newest models.
