Mazda 3 LAWRENCE ALLAN

Doing anything fresh with the ubiquitous hatchback is tough, but Mazda has managed it with the new 3. I love the Alfasud-like sloping rear and the purposeful stance. It remains to be seen how much that affects visibility, but first impressions are promising.

Audi E-tron GT RICHARD BREMNER

It’s great to see a pretty EV in which engineering and design have gelled to create something low and appealing despite the challenges of a battery pack. The E-tron GT is lower than an A7 – quite a feat when considering the size of the battery under it.
