FIVE SUVS TO GRAB YOUR ATTENTION
There are more SUVS on sale in the UK than you can shake a stick at, and many are positioned as their brand’s biggest cash cow, exploiting a craze that has taken off to such an extent that it’s now Europe’s fastest-growing segment. Some SUVS are more important than others, however, such as these.
INFINITI QX50
Infiniti has gained traction in markets such as the US, but volumes remain tiny in the UK. In fact, it’s getting to the point where the brand’s future here is under threat, but the QX50 SUV could be the car that rescues Infiniti in Britain.
LEXUS UX
Lexus’s market share pales in comparison to the Germans’, but the UX is set to lead the brand’s sales charge. The compact SUV has the BMW X1 in its sights and the design should offer the unique, contemporary appeal that buyers in this segment crave.
NISSAN JUKE
Perhaps the most important here: the all-new Juke is the difficult second album. With over a million sales of the current car in eight years, Nissan will be praying it can recreate that success, in the face of a massive onslaught of rivals, with a new take on the car’s polarising design.
BENTLEY BENTAYGA HYBRID
It should come as no surprise that Bentley’s first electrified model is an SUV. The Bentayga plug-in is the marque’s first step into the EV world and precedes the launch of a pureelectric sports car in 2020.
VOLVO XC40 ELECTRIC
Volvo’s smallest SUV has proved to be a sales hit: buyers can’t get enough of its striking looks and plush cabin. So can the electric version, due towards the end of this year, get even further under the skin of the trend-setters and early adopters? That’s Volvo’s hope for its first pure-electric model.
