DRIVE TO LAKE COMO

- JEREMY STAFFORD

Got a fast car and nowhere but a track in the UK to exercise it? Take it over to Lake Como for a long weekend. Twelve hours each way. I took in the Schlumpf collection of Bugattis on the way down – routing via France. Stay at a lovely faded grandeur hotel on the waterfront for a few euro and travel around the lake on the ferry enjoying a glass or two of Gavi de Gavi at Bellagio. Route back via Germany and max your under-exercised car for an hour or two. I met a Swiss-registered Ferrari California and we took turns to lead. Arrive home weary but uplifted. Best get it done before Brexit…
