A dazzling view

-

Rob Lightbody’s letter needs a small correction. The lights he refers to are xenon, not halogen, but otherwise I’d agree with everything else he says.

I do a lot of town driving and, even with street lights on, I find myself being dazzled from both in front and behind by these lights. The effect is even worse when you are driving on a dark section of motorway at night, although I’ll admit that they probably do give better vision to the drivers of these cars. But I think the current settings are downright dangerous to other motorists.

Surely, they should have a different, lower-to-the-road setting from older headlights to avoid dazzling other motorists, especially as they are becoming a standard fitment with more car makers. Perhaps the Department for Transport could make this law and save us drivers from potentially a fatal injury due to these lights. Dave Bardsley Via email
