Oh no we’re not
I refer to the letter from James Fish regarding Autocar’s apparent bias towards JLR vehicles.
It appears that Mr Fish seems to judge the worth of a car on the quality of its infotainment system rather than dynamic virtues – a comment I would have thought belongs more to the Xbox generation than mature drivers.
I’m now on my third Jaguar, an XF 3.0D Premium Luxury, and it’s true that the sat-nav isn’t as swish as most modern makers are offering but it gets us where we want to go, the standard Meridian hi-fi is excellent and the car’s general ambience when travelling is very relaxing. The best thing is the car’s ability to switch from docile to snarling at the touch of a button, or to return almost 50mpg when cruising.
I’m glad that at least one magazine has the wisdom and guts to promote a true home-grown driver’s car rather than jumping on the ‘nothing drives like a BMW’ bandwagon, or endlessly promoting Audi with its plethora of niche models aiming to saturate every sector of the marketplace.
Jaguar’s current range shows truly innovative thinking and, in a refreshing departure from the current fashion, still makes real saloon cars. I, for one, welcome that and, judging by what I see on local roads, I’m not alone. Richard Drew Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire Credibility is the currency we trade on.
