ROAD TEST
Bodywork sports Cs-specific trimmings, not least the carbonfibre Gurney flap and new front splitter, both of which help to negate lift. The M2 CS doesn’t deliver downforce but it is more stable at high speed than the Comp. Our test car came in full track-day spec, with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and M carbon-ceramic brakes, which until now have been available on only more senior M cars. Michelin’s excellent but more road-biased Super Sport tyres are standard fit. Carbonfibre roof gets a divisive chequered-flag motif, but it usefully lowers the car’s centre of gravity and stiffens the bodyshell, in turn allowing the adaptive suspension to operate with greater accuracy. M2 CS gets characteristic M division quad exhaust tips that sit well within the extremities of the rear bumper. The design is subtly different from that of the M2 Competition and each tip features an inscribed ‘M’.
