All-new 2023 MG 3 to rival Renault Zoe
MG’S PUSH TO establish itself in new markets will extend to the introduction of an electric hatchback to challenge seasoned segment leaders such as the Renault Zoe and newcomers like the Ora Cat from SAIC’S Chinese rival Great Wall Motors.
It is due to be launched before the Cyberster and is already undergoing testing in production bodywork.
Autocar understands that it will be presented in concept form at the Beijing motor show in April before a full launch later this year.
Right-hand-drive cars are due in the UK in 2023.
Chinese media reports have suggested the new hatchback could replace the second-generation 3 supermini, which has been in production at MG’S plant in Nanjing, China, since 2011, and will offer the choice of both petrol and electric drivetrains, like the ZS crossover.
The new hatch’s design, alluded to in a series of lowquality prototype images and a recent patent filing, looks to draw on elements of the Cyberster concept, particularly at the front end, while a prominent, nearly flat-topped shoulder line apes that of the ZS.
