CHARGE FASTER: COOL IDEA

-

Ford in the US is working with a research team at Purdue University to develop a cooled rapid charger cable to enable rapid charge times in line with the time it takes to fill up with petrol or diesel. Rather than just liquid cooling, the cable coolant ‘changes phase’ from liquid to vapour, significantly increasing the amount of heat removed. The project is still in the early stages, though, and prototype testing won’t start for two years or so.
