Double trouble

-

It’s great to see that the new Ford Bronco is available in the UK.

As per Ford’s website, the four-door 2.3 Ecoboost Outer Banks retails for $47,620 in the US – roughly £35,038 at today’s exchange rate. Perhaps I’m missing some spec items or taxes, but that makes UK dealer Clive Sutton’s price more than double that which one would pay in the US. That’s a lot of dealer mark-up, IVA testing and warranty costs. Too much, surely? Tony Ash

Via email American dealers can charge more than list price, and they’re currently at £10k-£15k over. Plus variable local taxes have to be paid, then UK import duty on a new car is 10% and VAT is 20%. In any case, Clive Sutton is in central London with customers who are prepared to pay a premium – MP
