There’s more to life than money

There were several letters on the cost of EV driving in the 30 March issue.

I’ve leased a Renault Zoe for the past two years, charging at home on an overnight tariff. The running costs have been 1.5p per mile. I agree that rapid chargers are expensive, but with most people charging at home, the cost savings are significan­t.

I would also highlight that cost saving is only one small part of EV ownership. Zero local emissions when driving and an energy supplier that (apparently) uses only renewable energy goes a long way to helping local and national emissions. I feel that’s worth paying extra up front for.
