TVR: A BRIEF HISTORY

1946 Trevor Wilkinson founds engineering business Trevcar Motors in Blackpool, later to become TVR Engineering.

1958 Grantura sports car puts TVR on the map with its fibreglass body and 1.1-litre Coventry Climax engine.

1963 Griffith arrives, named after TVR’S US importer and with a 4.7-litre Ford V8. 1981 Peter Wheeler (above) begins 23-year ownership of TVR and ushers in bold new design language and engine offering.

2006 Production in Blackpool ends under ownership of Russian Nikolay Smolensky.

2013 Smolensky sells his entire stake to Les Edgar and John Chasey.

2017 All-new Griffith unveiled, with deliveries planned to start in 2019.
