The Lithuanian composer Onut˙e Narbutait˙e was particularly influenced by her mother Ona, a musicologist who dedicated herself even in the face of Soviet repression to the historical research of Lithuanian music. After herself studying composition under Bronius Kutaviˇcius and Julius Juzeliu¯nas, Narbutait˙e wrote mostly chamber music in the 1990s. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, Narbutait˙e’s music was increasingly performed in various festivals, particularly the Warsaw Autumn Festival. Since 2000 she has increasingly written symphonic-style music.
