Easylute

-

In February ( Full Score) you congratulated trumpeter Alison Balsom and violinist Nicola Benedetti on convincing British Airways to rethink its policy on carrying instruments. The new policy is to ‘make every effort’ to allow instruments with dimensions of up to 80cm x 30cm x 25cm in the cabin. This policy is still mean and begrudging compared to, say, easyjet who allow 120cm x 38cm x 30cm

‘at the captain’s discretion’. My lute will not meet the BA criteria, but it fits well within easyjet’s and it always fits in the overhead compartment. I don’t think easyjet’s planes are bigger than BA’S, so I think ‘the world’s favourite airline’ can and should do better than this. Michael Ashley, via email
