Edinburgh Festival
Radio 3 is at the renowned Edinburgh Festival again this summer, bringing you the best of the 71st season. Highlights include Nicola Benedetti in Vivaldi and Telemann violin concertos (7 Aug) and Ronald Brautigam’s recital of Mendelssohn and Chopin on fortepiano (13 Aug). 6-24 August, 11am-1pm
Eurovision Young Musicians
The brilliant biennial competition returns as part of the Edinburgh Festival. Eighteen talented young musicians from member countries of the European Broadcasting Union will compete for a place in the grand final. This year’s judges include conductor Marin Alsop and composer James Macmillan. 18-19, 24 August, various times
The Brandenburg Project
The Swedish Chamber Orchestra has commissioned six leading composers to write partner works for each of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. With the line-up including pieces by Mark-anthony Turnage, Olga Neuwirth and Brett Dean, this should be a memorable occasion.
