Introductory notes
Research carried out by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has revealed that movies and TV are the most likely ways for children to become acquainted with classical music. Of a sample group of 586 children aged from 6-15, 44 per cent said they had become aware of the genre through watching a film, while 34 per cent had first heard it on television. Just 29 per cent, meanwhile, revealed that they had listened to classical
music at school.
